Hello to anyone out there who’s still checking in on this blog! 🙂 I apologize for my absence of late. I’ve been a terrible knitting blogger. In fact, I’ve been a terrible knitter in general.
Why?
I got a job. A full-time teaching job. After 14 years of staying home with kids and/or substitute teaching. This has been a BIG change and I’m just now (mostly) getting a handle on things.
I have, however, been teaching my students to knit. We started out with one finger, then moved to 4.
The next step is using needles. 4 years ago I bought 50 pairs from a seller on etsy. I can find 26 of them, and need to find 24 more. And then some. (I have 56 students in all.)
In the meantime, I work on a project when I can. I have a project I’ve been working on for over a year… it’s slow going, but I’m nearing the end. It was a project for a friend’s book that I haven’t heard any news about lately. I suppose I should reach out to her and see if she’s still in need of it.
And I’ve got a few gifts I should knit.
I will also try to spotlight the rest of my book patterns from “Once Upon A Knit” – I realize I only got about halfway through them. I will do my best to finish.
Thanks for checking in. I hope to be posting again very soon!

I specifically looked up vampire knits. I love the look of your books but I don’t know what is in them. I don’t know what you are capable of doing but if you allowed pictures of the patterns you are doing, you would sell more books. I went through it and only saw two items. they were nice but convincing. the look inside showed two items and probably part of a pattern. if I were looking in a bookstore, that is how I would know to buy the book. no one is going to download pictures of knits so you don’t have to worry about not buying the book. I work in a vampire boutique and I knit. I will probably get it anyway. but seeing what was in it could have sold me and others faster.
Dawn, thank you for your interest. On my knitting blog, you can see almost all the patterns spotlighted in the blog.https://genevieveknits.wordpress.com/category/vampire-knits/page/5/ Also, if you’re on Revelry, you can see all of them here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/sources/vampire-knits/patterns
Hopefully that helps you out. 🙂

I love your “Once Upon a Knit” book I am currently working on the Ruby Red Riding Hood for next Halloween, but I have encountered a problem/I became confused. After I finish the second buttonhole row it says to work rows 1-16 of the pattern, but rows 1-8 are the basket-weave rows can you explain what you mean by this? The picture doesn’t show another row of basket-weave in the hood, so is it just on the edges that it’s basket-weave and the rest is knit or purl row also do we increase during those rows?
Hi. Let me take a look at the sample I knit. It’s been awhile, and I just moved, so it may take me a day or two. Sorry for this, and thanks for your patience!
That’s fine. I should let you know that on Ravelry some others post similar questions. You may want to post a similar answer on that cite as well.
